It's time for Feature Friday: Alumni Edition with Class of 2011 alum David Park ! UC Berkeley IEOR → Levi's → GoodData→ Salesforce → Ministry Since graduating with a B.S. + M.S. in IEOR in 2011, David has dedicated significant time to the world of technology and data — shaping supply chains at Levi’s, engineering databases at GoodData, and serving as Data Engineering Manager at Salesforce. He made his mark in these fields through hard work and the power of his IEOR expertise. Building on that impact, David has now turned his focus to making a difference in another meaningful arena: full-time ministry. He counsels and mentors college students through campus Christian ministry in Chicago, inspired by his own formative college years. Today, David continues to give back to the next generation while cherishing life with his spouse, a fellow Cal alum, and their two children. 💬"After completing my BS + MS in IEOR with a focus on Supply Chain/Production, I worked in Supply Planning at Levi’s (1.5 years), then moved into database engineering with GoodData (1 year) and Salesforce (4 years). In 2019, I made a major shift into full-time ministry, planting a church in Chicago focused on campus Christian ministry. My IEOR background has been invaluable for starting up a ministry from the ground up and running church operations across 10+ campuses. Aside from that, I love getting to mentor and counsel college students—since college was such a formative season for me!" #ucberkeley #ucberkeleyieor #berkeleyengineering #calalumni #salesforce #levis #campusministry
https://www.reddit.com/r/GracepointChurch/comments/pe45my/friendship_sermons/ It is always a good reminder that the skills we learn from IEOR can be used to both help and hurt others. Let us not shy away from criticizing organizations and individuals that hide a dark side behind a holy label. The effects of this church go so much deeper than a spotlight.
Thank you David for all the work that you do for the Lord! It continues to amaze me how someone willingly let go of their earned high education and good career to serve God full-time! May God continue to bless you and your family
I know David and his family personally, and it’s good to see this feature! When I had a medical emergency, his wife coordinated amidst the chaos and even opened their home at the drop of a hat so I could stay overnight near my Chicago cardiologist. They are kind, open, and I’ve seen them host workshops using their myriad of skills to help younger people get a head start on their careers, receive invaluable counseling through various life barriers, and find a cozy “home away from home”. They stock their fridge and pantry with awesome snacks because they know hungry college students will appreciate them—as well as any other guests such as myself—and this is a picture of the warmth I’ve gotten to see about how to choose to share the resources they have with the community. They’re good people and I’m thankful for the impact they continue to make 💕. Thank you IEOR for featuring them!
