𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐯2 — 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 5/𝐧 — 𝐔𝐈 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐱 Sometimes optimization isn’t about doing more. It’s about showing less. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭: In my game, facilities need connections to pull and process resources. As the number of facilities grew, the UI started lagging — mostly because all those connection wires were being rendered continuously. I tried a few optimizations: - Replaced constant polling with event-based triggers - Started moving core simulation logic to Web Workers (still in progress) - Improved the mapping table for 𝐎(1) lookups They helped, but the issue still needed a better solution. 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐱? Hide unnecessary visuals. Don’t render the wires while the player is moving the cards. Is it the ideal long-term solution? Probably not. But did it improve things significantly for now? Absolutely. And yes — it’s something I’ll revisit later. Built with Next.js — no game-specific libraries for now. 🚀 I recently deployed a front-end dashboard application prototype for a Research Support platform built with React and Vite. The goal of this project was to demonstrate how complex research workflows (grants, departments, trends, trials, and collaboration data) could be organized into a structured, scalable interface. This prototype focuses on: • Component-based React architecture • Client-side routing with React Router • State management using Redux Toolkit • Interactive data visualization using Chart.js • Modular SCSS styling • Responsive dashboard layout patterns • Deployment workflow via GitHub → Vercel → custom domain The application represents the front-end structure and user experience layer. Data integrations and article-level navigation are not included in this prototype environment. When I first started building for the web, my entire focus was on the client side. Getting the UI right, wrestling with components, and living entirely in the browser. But there’s a distinct shift that happens when you decide you want to control the data and logic behind the scenes, too. Over the last couple of years, as I started diving deeper into the server side, my whole perspective on development flipped. Next.js was the absolute catalyst for that. It took the ecosystem I was already comfortable in and just… removed the wall between the front and back ends. Suddenly, handling server logic didn't feel like context-switching into a completely different universe. It all just felt like building one cohesive product. It completely rewired how I approach problem-solving, to the point where it’s now my absolute default for almost everything I spin up. When you use a framework that naturally bridges both ends, you stop fighting the architecture and just get into the rhythm of building. It shifts your mindset from "how do I wire this up?" to "what can I ship today?"
