I built a simple database from scratch… and now I finally understand why they’re fast. 🚀 What started as curiosity about database-level computation turned into a full SQLite-like engine written entirely in Python. I realized that while I understood the theory, the actual "magic" of how data moves from memory to disk was still a black box. So, I decided to open it. Inspired by the "Let's Build a Simple Database" series, I’ve been translating low-level C-style concepts—pointers, memory layout, and paging—into Python bytearrays and structs. It’s been a masterclass in systems programming within a high-level ecosystem. ✨ Current Features: Interactive REPL: A custom shell for real-time command execution. 🏗️ Beyond "It Works": Writing Maintainable Python One of the biggest shifts in my coding journey has been moving away from long, "flat" scripts and toward Modular Programming. Instead of writing one giant block of code, I’ve started breaking my logic into small, reusable functions. Why the change? Separation of Concerns: My math logic (calculating totals) is now separate from my formatting logic (adding currency symbols). Readability: The main script now reads like a story. Instead of staring at complex f-strings, I just see format_currency(). Future-Proofing: If I need to change the currency to Euros or update a tax calculation, I only change it in one place, not everywhere in the script. 🚀 From Static Data to an Interactive Web App! 🚀 I recently decided to take my programming skills to the next level by heavily upgrading one of my data analysis projects. What started as a simple Python script to process the famous Superstore dataset is now a fully interactive, live web dashboard! 📊 Here is what I accomplished:  🧠 Learned how to structure data using Python and Pandas (specifically using .groupby() to manipulate data dynamically). 🛠️ Rebuilt static charts into interactive ones using Streamlit. ⚙️ Mastered version control by resolving conflicts via Git terminal commands. 🌐 Deployed the final application to the cloud so anyone in the world can interact with the data! Day 10/365: Building a List from User Input & Finding Basic Stats 🔢📥 Today I wrote a Python program that takes numbers from the user, stores them in a list, and then calculates some basic statistics: sum, average, minimum, and maximum. What the code does step by step: First, I ask the user how many elements they want to enter and store that in n. I create an empty list l and a variable total to keep track of the sum. Using a for loop, I take n inputs from the user: Each number is added to the list using append(). At the same time, I keep adding each number to total to calculate the sum. After the loop: I print the full list. I print the sum using the total variable. Then I calculate the average as total / n and print it. To find the minimum and maximum: I start by assuming both min and max are the first element of the list. I loop through the list and update min if I find a smaller value. Similarly, I update max if I find a larger value. In the end, I print the minimum and maximum numbers in the list. What I learned from this exercise: How to take multiple inputs from a user and store them in a list. How to maintain a running sum while taking inputs. How to manually compute average, minimum, and maximum without using built‑in functions like sum(), min(), or max(). How loops and variables can work together to build simple but useful statistics — a basic idea used a lot in data analysis. Day 10 done ✅ 355 more to go. The "Shadow" Fix: Python Version Compatibility **Hook:** Building for the "Latest & Greatest" is easy. Building for the "Real World" is where the engineering gets messy. **Body:** While finalizing my Enterprise RAG pipeline, I hit a silent production-breaker: A `TypeError` buried deep in a third-party dependency. The culprit? The `llama-parse` library uses Python 3.10+ type union syntax (`|`), but the production environment was locked to Python 3.9. Result: Immediate crash on boot. Instead of demanding a system-wide upgrade—which isn’t always possible in locked-down enterprise environments—I implemented a **Graceful Fallback Logic**: ✅ **Dynamic Imports**: Wrapped the cloud-parser initialization in a guarded `try-except` block. ✅ **Smart Routing**: If the Python environment is incompatible, the system automatically redirects to a local, high-fidelity `PyMuPDF` parser. ✅ **System Resilience**: The app stays online, the UI remains responsive, and 99% of RAG functionality remains available without a single user noticing a failure.
