Design isn't dying, it's shifting left. When the model is the new medium, shaping how it behaves in humanistic ways is design. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e4qwhKEP My Tech Futures team has a Sr. UX Engineer role still open: https://lnkd.in/ezTRu8_q
Love this framing Alice, and what a beautifully presented article! Designing through the model, not just on top of it, is exactly where the real consequential decisions are being made now. The point you make about right human signals being encoded at the model level from the start, not bolted on later, is the shifting left argument applied to AI in a way most teams haven’t caught up to yet. The only thing I’d add is that this work can’t sit with design alone. Engineering and product need to be in that room too, before the behaviour is set. The further left we go, the more it becomes a shared responsibility!
Loved the interactivity of this blog- makes the POV that much easier to understand!
Really insightful article. There’s a lot of noise lately around “UX is dying,” but I’ve never seen it that way. The craft isn’t disappearing, it’s evolving. Tools and workflows are accelerating, and the real advantage now is how well we adapt and leverage them. The point about prototyping especially stood out. What used to take weeks can now be explored, validated, and iterated within days shifting our focus from execution to decision making and product thinking. Appreciate you sharing this definitely a valuable perspective for anyone building in this space. Would love to stay connected and learn more from your work.
