The numbers: 📊 Codebase - 77 files → 142 focused modules - 0% → 100% TypeScript strict - 11 runtime deps → 3 🛡️ Removed entirely - jQuery - moment.js - axios 0.19 (known CVEs) - Redux + react-redux + redux-thunk - create-react-app 3.4 (abandoned) - Console.log interceptors leaking tokens ⚡ Tooling - HMR: ~8s → <1s (CRA → Vite 8) - react-router v5 → v7 - tsc --strict: 0 errors - ESLint flat config: 0 warnings 🕐 Time - Manual rewrite: weeks, team - My pipeline: days, solo Note: LOC actually *went up* (9.2k → 12.4k). That's what a real migration looks like — types, split files, typed API layer. The win isn't shrinkage. It's 8 dependencies gone, zero CVEs, every file type-checked. 💡 Lesson Learned Today: While working on implementing search functionality in a React + Redux application, I faced an issue where the search input was updating correctly… but the results were not filtered at all 🤔 After debugging, I discovered an important insight: 👉 Not every “search issue” comes from the frontend. ✔️ The request was being sent correctly ✔️ The search parameter was included in the API call ❌ But the backend endpoint didn’t support filtering with that parameter 🔍 What I learned: Always verify: Is the correct parameter name being sent? Is the backend actually using it? I fixed a like button bug today that looked simple… but wasn’t. Clicks were working… But likes were not updating correctly. The issue? State was not syncing with the backend response. Once I fixed the state update logic, everything worked perfectly. Lesson: • Always sync frontend state with backend data • Don’t rely only on UI changes Small feature. Real learning. How do you parse MDX in Next.js with a 0 KB client bundle? 🤔 After months of development and testing, I’m incredibly proud to announce the public launch of Omni-Core (and its stable release v1.1.0)! 🎉 Historically, MDX rendering in React has always been a trade-off: either you sacrifice build speed, or you bloat the client bundle, which hurts performance. And with the arrival of React Server Components (RSC), getting complex ASTs to coexist with the JS ecosystem (Rehype/Unified) has proven to be a real sanitization headache. With Omni-Core, we tackled the problem at its root: moving everything to a native Rust engine. Here’s what’s under the hood 🛠️: 🦀 Native Rust core (napi-rs): A parser 10 to 50 times faster than in JS, using a zero-copy memory architecture to communicate with V8. ⚛️ 100% Server Components: MDX is parsed on the server and sent to the browser as pure static HTML. No parsing logic is sent to the client. 🛡️ Unified/HAST Bridge: Your favorite Rehype plugins (syntax highlighting, etc.) work natively without destroying your component metadata or LaTeX formulas. 🐍 Web & Desktop Parity: This same Rust engine powers our Python library for native rendering (PyQt5) that is strictly identical to the web version. Node.js Event Loop — One Concept Every Developer Should Know 🧠 Many developers get confused about this: Why does Promise run before setTimeout? Example 👇 console.log("Start"); setTimeout(() => console.log("Timeout"), 0); Promise.resolve().then(() => console.log("Promise")); console.log("End"); Output: Start → End → Promise → Timeout Why? Because JavaScript has 2 queues: ✔ Microtask Queue (Promises, async/await) ✔ Macrotask Queue (setTimeout, setInterval) Rule: 👉 Microtasks run before Macrotasks This is why Promise executes before setTimeout, even if timeout is 0ms. One bad loop can freeze your entire server. Not slow it down. Freeze it. That’s the part most Node/NestJS devs underestimate 👇 We love saying “Node is non-blocking.” But that’s only true until you block it. The event loop can only move forward when your code lets it. If one task takes too long, everything else waits behind it. What actually blocks the event loop? • Synchronous operations • Heavy CPU work (large loops, calculations) • Huge JSON parsing or stringifying • Anything that keeps the call stack busy for too long Here’s the real problem: One heavy request doesn’t just slow itself down. It blocks every other user at the same time. One user clicks → everyone waits. Think of Node like a single cashier. If one customer takes 5 minutes, the whole line stops moving. No matter how many users you have — everything is stuck behind that one task. The event loop isn’t magic. It turned out to be a [mention a technical detail, e.g., z-index stacking context / flex-basis conflict Fixed it by React js Lessons learned: Trust your DevTools, not your eyes.
