Message a lead with Sales Assistant

Last updated: 3 months ago

Sales Navigator's AI-powered Sales Assistant helps you streamline your prospecting process by delivering pre-screened leads, identifying the best paths in, and drafting personalized outreach. When you mark a lead as a good fit, if your best path in is direct outreach, Sales Assistant uses Message Assist to help you draft a first-touch message to the lead that’s tailored to your style.

Sales Assistant access

We're gradually making Sales Assistant available, and you can check if you currently have access. We’re not accepting requests for Sales Assistant access at this time. If Sales Assistant isn't available to you right now, you can sign up for the newsletter to be the first to receive Sales Assistant updates. Please note that this feature is being tested and access may be removed at any time.

To send a message to a lead with Sales Assistant:

  1. Sign in to Sales Navigator.

  2. Click the Go to Sales Assistant button in the upper-right corner. If you don’t see the Sales Assistant button, the feature might not currently be available to you.

  3. Select a lead from the left pane. Keep in mind that you can only message a lead from Sales Assistant if you click the Good fit button.

  4. Sales Assistant will find your best path in for that lead and suggest that you either message the lead directly or ask someone else for an introduction. If your best path is a direct message, an automatically generated message draft will appear in the right pane, powered by Message Assist.

  5. Click the Edit button to make changes to the draft. When you edit a message draft, Sales Assistant can adapt to your messaging preferences and apply them when it generates future message drafts, subject to your Privacy and data settings.

    Here's a tip

You can directly edit the draft, select a different option below Message goal, click a pre-written style recommendation button below Suggested, or give Sales Assistant custom guidance in the Instructions box to reflect your personal writing style. Try adding preferences for your writing style, salutation (greeting), call to action, and signature.

  6. Optional: Click the Like or Dislike icons to give feedback on the message draft.

  7. Click Send. Alternatively, you can copy the message to send another way (example: email), or wait until later to send the message.

  8. Optional: Send a connection request, view or copy a link to their LinkedIn profile, add them to your CRM, or add a note visible to yourself or teammates by clicking the   More menu in the top right of the lead page.
