Review applicants with Hiring Assistant

Last updated: 4 weeks ago

Who can use this feature?

Hiring Assistant is available as an add-on for LinkedIn Recruiter and LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services Plus (RPS+) customers. To use Hiring Assistant, you must be assigned the Hiring Assistant Permission and set your language preference to English. We’re gradually making this experience available, and you might not have access to it at this time. Learn more about Hiring Assistant here.

You’ll receive a notification in the upper-right corner of your LinkedIn Recruiter homepage when applicants are ready for review in projects where Hiring Assistant is enabled to evaluate applicants. You can also review applicants on your project’s Applicants page.

Hiring Assistant will continue evaluating applicants for your role unless you reach your monthly applicant evaluation limit.

You can filter applicants by Relevance, with those identified as top applicants by Hiring Assistant appearing first. Alternatively, you can select Screening Requirements to prioritize applicants who meet your job post’s screening question criteria, or choose Newest first or Alphabetical to adjust the order accordingly.

To review applicants with Hiring Assistant:

  1. Click the Sparkle icon in the upper-right corner of your Recruiter homepage, next to your profile picture, to open the Hiring Assistant dashboard. Then click the Review applicants button. Hiring Assistant will take you to your project’s Applicants page.

    • Alternatively, navigate to the Jobs page and open the project where you’ve enabled Hiring Assistant.
  2. Review the applicants on your Applicants page. You can save an applicant to your pipeline, reject them, or send them a message. Users with Apply Connect can view applicant evaluations directly in the Apply Connect widget within their ATS.

    • The candidate profile card shows a brief summary of the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to your project and hiring needs.
  3. Optional: Click the Arrow icon on the Hiring Assistant summary to view their full LinkedIn profile and an evaluation against your project’s qualifications. You can also see whether the information was sourced from their LinkedIn profile or resume.

When Hiring Assistant finishes reevaluating applicants, it will notify you. You can see a summary of applicant evaluations in the Activity log by clicking the Sparkle icon on the left pane. Click the evaluation summary in the Activity log to review the applicants. You can also chat with Hiring Assistant in the Activity log to initiate applicant evaluations or other actions.

To pause or stop applicant evaluation at any time, type “Pause applicant evaluation” or “Stop applicant evaluation” in the Activity log while applicant evaluation is active for the project. You can also set a limit on the number of applicants you want Hiring Assistant to evaluate by typing “Only evaluate [number] applicants” in the Activity log. Alternatively, navigate to your project’s Overview page and click Edit settings in the Hiring Assistant section. Click Yes, evaluate with AI in the Applicant evaluation section to limit the number of applicants to be evaluated.

Here's a tip

When you archive an applicant or highlight specific text on their profile, you can add written feedback to guide Hiring Assistant. This feedback helps Hiring Assistant refine its recommendations and source candidates more aligned with your hiring needs.

Important to know

If applicant evaluation was disabled and re-enabled on your contract, any applicants who applied during the time it was disabled aren’t evaluated by Hiring Assistant. To have Hiring Assistant reevaluate the applicants who applied while the setting was disabled, you can click the Sparkle icon on the left pane of your project’s Applicants page to open the Activity log, and then click Reevaluate or prompt the Assistant with "reevaluate applicants.”
