To protect data quality, you may need to review some fields in your CSV file once you complete a successful upload.

New role data
If you are uploading data for a role you haven't yet created:
- If auto-publishing, roles will appear in “Published” if the custom title is mapped to a LinkedIn standard title.
- If manually reviewing, roles will appear in "In review" with the status "Ready to publish" if the custom title is mapped to a LinkedIn standard title.
If autopublishing or manually reviewing, Roles will appear in “In review” with the status “No standard title found”. You will need to manually select a LinkedIn standard title to publish the role.
Important to know
You cannot turn on Role Guides without a standard title.
Existing role data
If you are updating existing role data in the system:
- If autopublishing, Roles will be automatically “Published” (or stay published with the new role data). Role Guides will stay “Turned on” applying the latest version of role data published.
- If manually reviewing, Roles will appear in “In review” with the status "Existing roles with updated data".
- Examples include adding or updating:
- Alternative titles
- Job families
- Levels
- Description
- Skills
- If autopublishing or manually reviewing, Roles will appear “In review” with the status “Existing roles with updated data”.
- The existing published version of the role will remain in “Published” until you approve the update from “In Review”, after which the latest version will be applied to the existing role data.
- Examples include removing existing:
- Skills
- Descriptions
Important to know
Role data cannot be deleted via the CSV Upload experience to protect admin curated data. If you wish to bulk delete roles, then you can select all roles by page and delete.
Here's a tip
To download all suggested roles for easier editing and review offline, select (in the top right corner of the screen) Download > Download roles for review. You can edit offline in .CSV and then re-upload it. You can also select which roles to download by selecting the appropriate checkboxes.
Review the CSV ingestion summary every time
After each upload, review the summary to confirm:
- How many roles were published successfully
- How many roles need review
