Parents were able to volunteer in the classroom and as my husband and I wanted to express our gratitude and be a part of Kate's education, we volunteered in the classroom and I did all the marketing collateral for the school and was asked to lead the capital campaign our last year in West Lafayette. The school was able to move from a long time rental arrangement to purchasing property and remodeling the buildings. To this day, I remain close to the then Director of MSGL and families that were a part of our lives while David and I were both doctoral students at Purdue University.

On Amazon: Black Holes and White Spaces describes tools and frameworks that leaders inside and outside the HR profession can use to transform the HR profession and their organizational success. It summarizes the collective wisdom and hard work of over 70 exemplary chief HR officers and other leaders. Their mission: Disruptively accelerate the progress of the HR profession to meet the unprecedented challenges and opportunities of the new world of work. Black Holes are things that have been talked about for years in HR, but remain stubbornly unresolved. White Spaces are things that get far too little attention from HR, but that must be addressed to have a pivotal impact on the future workplace and the success of HR and organizations. These leaders committed to a three-year collective effort dubbed CHREATE—The Global Consortium to Reimagine HR, Employment Alternatives, Talent, and the Enterprise. They recruited their colleagues and led volunteer teams that tackled the tough challenges, demonstrated how to address them, and built open-source tools and frameworks for leaders like you to use in your own organization. The project was guided by these common beliefs: open source, voluntary, inclusive, messy, and agile. CHREATE focused on four key pillars of change, that organize this book: 1. Align HR with Value Creation for Organizations that Win 2. Shape Expectations of HR's Key Constituents 3. Rewire the Work and Tools of HR 4. Enhance the HR Talent Pipeline In this eBook, you'll find 26 essays from a wide range of CHREATE Project volunteers, people who have contributed their expertise, time, and passion to raising the bar for the HR profession. The essays not only describe the frameworks and tools to disruptively accelerate HR's progress, they often provide links to prototypes, guides and tools

We know that leaders with self-insight are more effective at attracting and developing talent and accomplishing results.

In a seven step action plan to guide leaders to become more self-aware, we advised leaders to:

    1) Use the power of insight
    2) Be objective
    3) Create a cost/benefit analysis
    4) Determine your tool
    5) See your blind spots
    6) Observe traction
    7) Apply action

Member of CHREATE's Destruction and Reconstruction project, one of three teams being launched for Phase 3 of defining and preparing for the transformation of Human Resources in anticipation of major shifts occurring in the world of work. Phase 2 of CHREATE identified a emerging new work ecosystem as a fundamental driver of future disruption. Optimizing that work ecosystem will require that leaders learn to optimize their work and relationships with workers to reflect options that include but go well beyond regular full-time employment. The future HR profession must rewire its systems, functions, operating models and measurements to enable optimization of this new work ecosystem. A pillar of this effort is the need to think beyond defining traditional jobs with defined roles and responsibilities to a world where the focus is on the work and the identification and engagement of the workers with specific competencies and skills to deliver on project outcomes. HR professionals and the leaders and workers they support will need to work with the tools and guiding frameworks through this important work deconstruction and reconstruction process in this new world of work. This project will discover the best existing thoughts and tools about work deconstruction, and then will integrate and organize that work into recommendations, guiding frameworks, and tools to advance our ability to find the untapped value trapped within traditional jobs.
