Meltwater's David Hickey accurately captures one of the key findings of SenateSHJ's Future of Reputation 2030 report that Corporate Affairs/Communication is now a decision-support function - its value is in providing reputation intelligence that informs trade-offs before decisions are taken. David nails it in the AdNews Australia article when he says: "...many organisations still treat reputation as a lagging indicator. Something reviewed after the fact, measured only through primary research or sentiment scores. "That won’t be enough in 2026." Echoing much of the sentiment of the Future of Reputation 2030 report David adds the kicker: "The next evolution in brand management is moving from hindsight to foresight - not just reacting to reputational shifts but predicting them before they escalate. "Reputation may not sit neatly in a spreadsheet, but in 2026, it will be the metric every boardroom is watching." David, I couldn't agree more, and from what I heard during my interview for the report, the 44 reputation experts share this view. What is the purpose of a board of directors? What ought to be the role of its individual members? This great, brief piece by Helle Bank Jørgensen, GCB.D, NACD.DC asks the provocative question… “Are we just here to minimize risk or to enable responsible, courageous decision-making in service of society?” Some readers will smugly dismiss the question, arguing their only role is to uphold shareholders’ interests. That thinking is antiquated. Some will argue they consult stakeholders and interest groups and argue that’s enough. That work is necessary, but insufficient. Leading boards continually optimize the firm’s strategic contribution to the long term wellbeing of all people and the rest of nature. And these purpose-led companies are winning: more talent, more customer loyalty, more innovation…. The list goes on. #socialpurpose #goodgovernance #purposeeconomy

PR Nightmare of the Week The Economist delivers a reputational punch to Accenture with the damaging headline,“Who needs Accenture in the age of AI?” From a $250bn peak to a $60bn dip, the article appears to conclude that semi autonomous AI agents are eating consulting and hence Accenture, others to follow? The company is trying to boost AI revenue, upskilling its workforce and hope to reclaim the AI narrative or risk becoming a case study in disruption. Media isn’t shrinking. Authority is. And for anyone in PR, that should set off alarms ... not panic, but purpose. The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism says publishers expect search traffic to fall by 43% in three years which means discovery is no longer neutral. It’s curated, creator-led, and increasingly unfiltered. When 70% of media leaders admit creators are pulling attention away, and newsrooms themselves are being nudged to “act like creators,” we’re watching a transfer of trust. From a reputation lens, the questions get uncomfortable very quickly. ➡️ Who carries credibility when a journalist becomes a personal brand? ➡️What happens to accountability when narratives move from edited rooms to algorithm-fed platforms? Will credibility live outside newsrooms? ➡️If creators offer control and speed, where does rigour live? ➡️If silence once signalled strategy, does absence today look like avoidance? ➡️When everyone can publish, who still earns belief? ➡️Media still matters but which media, whose rules, and who sets the agenda now ? ➡️And if everyone is creating ... who is consuming ? Is there anyone out there who considers themselves an 'audience' ? PR has always sat at the intersection of influence and responsibility. Our work relies on trust that is slow-earned and easily fractured. In this new ecosystem, trust doesn’t collapse in one scandal; it erodes quietly, clip by clip, meme by meme, podcast by podcast. Sometimes all at once. We are seeing these trends develop in India at various levels across all news organizations. So the real question isn’t whether we should work with creators. We already do.
