Visual Scheduler and Process Workflow for Operations
-
Led the development of a new integrated system featuring an application and visual dashboard to streamline and automate manual processes into a cohesive stage gate workflow, complementing the existing ERP system. The project aimed to synchronize team efforts, streamline workflows, and offer real-time visibility through manufacturing floor dashboards. This system tracks material statuses, facilitates kitting processes, and identifies potential job issues within the manufacturing pipeline.

The project implemented a hyperconverged Scale server platform with a high-throughput Cisco backplane and Windows Data Center. Acronis on-site backup and high-speed SAN, coupled with cloud offsite backup, ensured robust backup and recovery capabilities. Additionally, a high availability Scale node was deployed off-site for virtual server snapshot captures. Legacy servers were upgraded to current operating systems, services were migrated to new virtual servers with load balancing, ensuring optimized performance and resilience.

The core of this project was to create applications to connect and collect data directly from the HMI controllers running each work center in the facility, process that data into a production grading system, and then output to the many monitors by area and cell designations to produce realtime productivity grading by machine. The graded production data is processed and aggregated for shift supervisors, management, process engineering, and long term analysis.
This entire application system interfaces with the IQMS EIQ ERP system for all parts, BOM, and standards measures. A set of management tools were also developed for production and process engineers to add and update work station and part attributes as stations change over and new parts are added.
The core development has been completed with all interfaces completed. The remaining steps are rolling out the monitor and reporting systems to the different production areas and cells. -
dlhBOWLES Data Warehouse and Power BI Implementation

Prior to the implementation of sprints of this project, all reporting was done via Crystal Reports as integrated into the IQMS EIQ ERP system or via scheduled alert reports utilizing a proprietary tool in EIQ.
Sprint one was to build an ETL system to take EIQ OLTP data at checkpoints in the business data and transform the data using SSIS ETL processing to a flattened and non-normalized data warehouse for use with multiple reporting tools. Initial tools for visualizing and utilizing the data were able to be pointed to it and an initial set of Power BI dashboards were developed for use by leadership and management.
Data from the data warehouse was also utilized in forming a budget and sales forecasting tool to provide the initial forecast for 2019. Future sprints will build out daily KPI numbers, details for analysis, and increased product and sales data for use across the enterprise. -

Extractions and transformations of multiple sets of data were developed on SQL server. Inline KPI statistics for support, tasks, and projects were built into the ETL process. From the gathered data, individual, department, and team-based SSRS reports were developed to track several different IT KPI's and performance metrics. The resulting data and reports have been used to support IT budgets, assess staffing needs, even workloads, find areas that require more efficiency, track improvements by staff, and perform what-if testing for IT changes. This has become a neccessary tool for IT management.

Internally the goal was to implement a complete "IT Operating System". The launch came in one month early across all locations with great acceptance from the dlhBOWLES organization. Follow up actions included a complete set of IT metrics, reporting, and integrations with MS SQL server for SSRS reporting.

The Koroseal Interior Products new product design and development product managers and color lab staff have a detailed and sophisticated process of taking a conceptual design for a wall covering product from inception through design to manufacturing. There are many individuals, components, and processes that need coordinated, tracked, and accounted for in the design and sampling process. Once the process is to the point of creating strike offs and pre-production specifications, the captured steps and approval process is formulated into a brand offering and entry into the current line of interior products for Koroseal.
This project created a system to work in many modes to design, capture sampling, and formulate a patterns compositions into a mult-iuser, mult-role software system to facilitate the inception and creation of Koroseal Interior Products designs. The new system also required integration into the System 21 ERP system as well as an existing Custom Products system and Lab Queue.
The development included using technologies such as the Infor Development Framework (IDF), HTML, RPG/SQL, DB2, Quadrant Formtastic, and other technology components.
The project management was handled via a Agile methodology using several sprints (phases) to capture requirements, designs, and develop/test the components as they were delivered. -
Stockroom Picking Systems with Sortation Picking and Document Improvements

Koroseal Interior Products has several locations and stockrooms to utilize for efficient picking and customer order fulfillment processes. One of the key aspects for an interior products company is to quickly deliver architectural and interior design samples of product for the specifying stage of a project, and then to deliver the finished goods quickly and on time.
This projects primary goal was to focus on streamlining the process of order allocations and stockroom selections at the customer service level, and then split and distribute picking instructions and documents to the stockrooms/locations to satisfy the picking. This brought in new functionality to the order creation process by allowing multiple stockrooms and locations on a single order for more efficient ordering and customer billing.
Because of the size and complexity of some of the stockrooms, sorted location picking was implemented to maximize picking efficiencies and cut down time spent on large orders.
At each location, stockroom picking documents were designed and constructed to enable the picking staff to work at their peak performance levels and to have an all in one place view of the order and the order details. Along with the picking documents, some locations also included formatted customer letters, and assembly documents to match up with the pick lists for better service. -
IDF Infor Development Framework Applications (Enterprise Integrator)- Power Link and Net Link
-
Development of several customer service and order fulfillment applications in Infor IDF (Infor Development Framework) to extend Aurora System 21 content and tie together custom processes with core S21 data. These applications are GUI based with deep functionality and integrate seamlessly to Infor Business Objects. The goal of these applications is to provide focus, extended functionality, richer access to data, and a better view into processes currently being handled by S21.

One of the options that is available to providing custom development is to utilize the user development areas of the WorkSpace application and develop tools to work alongside and interact with the programs running in WorkSpace.
To aid our customer service and customer maintenance teams, two web applications were developed to run inside the WorkSpace shell. These applications both interacted with and ran individually to perform searches for orders, PO's, and customers and then using the search results, interact with the Aurora programs.
The technologies used were HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XSLT, SQL, Stored Procedures, RPG, DB2, and XML. The web interface runs over a SOA type bus which has a back end running JavaScript and Java classes.
The extensions use the XML style sheets to parse the XML and format it into HTML. On the search calls, stored procedures on the IBM i are called and the backend system running RPG/SQL retrieves the search data, and then allows for retrieval from the DB2 data via SQL. -
