🔥Hot Take: AI won’t Save Your YouTube Channel.. 😵 Years ago, while daily-vlogging across Vietnam, I watched a perfectly good video flop because I published with a safe, descriptive title. I later reframed the same story with a bolder angle—and CTR jumped without changing a single frame. Lesson learned: write the title first and sharpen the idea before you ever hit record. A quick title check before you publish: 1. Does it make a clear promise or tension? 2. Would a stranger be curious in 2 seconds? 3. Is it specific (who/what/why now), not generic? 4. Does it sound like a human, not a template? If your videos are underperforming, skip the “100 AI title ideas” dump and spend more time crafting a great idea for the video, title and hook. Your metrics will thank you.

Japan’s social media landscape is unlike anywhere else. If you live and/or work in Japan, you need to know this. Each platform plays a very different role from overseas. Global strategies rarely work here without local adaptation. Understanding those nuances is the secret sauce to Truly connecting with Japanese consumers. 📊 Here’s the latest snapshot of Monthly Active Users (MAU), growth, and audience behavior: 🇯🇵 Social Media in Japan — September 2025 ✅ LINE (97M MAU) → More than chat: LINE is an entire ecosystem. People use it for school groups, work teams, family chats, hobby circles, and more Add in payments, shopping, coupons, and news — it’s woven into daily life. ✅ YouTube (~75M MAU) → Watched like TV.  Many people watch YouTube on smart TVs at home, on the train, and walking… Shorts are rising quickly among Gen Z. It’s also a hub for anime reviews, gaming streams, and music content. ✅ X (Twitter, ~70M MAU) → Still unusually strong. Why? Because anonymity is accepted and even valued in Japan.  People use X to speak freely, follow fandoms, debate news, or rally around  Subcultures. Brands have to be on X (Twitter) in Japan. Real-time conversation thrives here in a way that Instagram or TikTok can’t match. ✅ Instagram (~56M MAU) → Now nearly ubiquitous among young adults. Japanese users focus on aesthetics and detailed captions,  Especially in fashion, beauty, food, and travel.  Stories and Reels are dominant for discovery. ✅TikTok (~25M MAU) → Hugely popular with Gen Z. It’s no longer “just entertainment,” people use TikTok to discover products,  Plan shopping, and set micro-trends.  Local TikTok creators can sell out items overnight. ✅ Facebook (~18M MAU) → Still alive, but different.  Japanese personal use is mostly selfies, travel diaries, and milestone posts.  At the same time, many professionals use it for business self-promotion posts  Almost like a softer LinkedIn, that doesn’t “seem” like a career site. ✅ Pinterest (~8M MAU est.) → A niche platform, but high intent. Popular among women for fashion boards, home inspiration, and DIY projects.  Used more like a visual search engine than a social network. ✅ LinkedIn (~4M MAU) → Still niche, but growing fast. Most active among globally-facing professionals, bilingual talent, and recruiters. In Japan, LinkedIn is more of an international networking tool  And not really a local social platform. 👉 Takeaway: In Japan, the same platforms you know elsewhere play entirely different roles. LINE is a lifestyle infrastructure, X thrives on anonymity,  Instagram is aspirational, and Facebook has aged  Into a mix of selfies and business posts. 👋 Hey PMMs, save this 30/60/90 plan! (Great share from Yi Lin Pei) "You just landed a new product marketing job. So why do you feel so nervous? 😰 You should feel confident. You worked so hard for this, esp in such a tough market. But instead, here’s what I hear from so many PMMs starting a new role: “It’s my first time as a Sr PMM (or another level). I’m not sure what’s really expected of me.” “I know I have to lead some big projects… and I really don’t want to fail.” “Everyone here is from a name-brand company. I don’t want to look stupid.” This anxiety is more common than you think.  And it has nothing to do with your ability. Here is the thing: most companies don't onboard people well. You either get: -> A firehose of info that is overwhelming -> Or… nothing at all And without a trusted sounding board, you start to question your instincts or burn out trying to prove your worth. So if you are in this situation, I created a table below to help you approach this with more clarity. The key is to approach onboarding from 3 lenses:   1️⃣ Learning: Focus on the right things to learn at each phase  2️⃣ Delivering: Deliver strategic wins through clear prioritization  3️⃣ Meeting: Build strategic relationships that set you up to win When you do this, you will reach the break-even point faster - the point where the value you deliver surpasses the value you consume. -- P.S. AI vs. Human Influencer : will they co-exist?   For marketers that are scaling up brands in the world of influencers, affiliate marketing, contents, and live streams, improving their performance often hindered by human things as health, emotions, unpredictable live narratives, variable demands and perhaps a unique thing for Indonesian, occasionally also have the needs to go back to their hometown (“Pulang Kampung”)... And when they’re in their downtime, there goes our GMV for the week. On top of it all, we also have the need to control a standardized quality and brand equity across thousands of contents and hours of live streams, ensuring they adhere to our brand guidelines and product benefit.   But here comes AI,   In June 2025, first AI Live Streamers Avatars were launched by China's Baidu, it held an extensive live stream for over 6 Hours, generated over 55M RMB in GMV, and delivered a super impressive 97K of impeccable product descriptions. The AI avatars interacted with live questions in real time, mimics all body gestures and shows the same sense of humour of the original hosts that it modeled from. It managed to deliver what has always been a challenge for human host : flawless product knowledge with no downtime; and delivered what has always been a challenge in AIGC : Natural visual (human) look and quality of authenticity. All things that feel unnatural from an AI that needs to be invisible to human target audience can be delivered by these AI Avatars.   LINK: https://lnkd.in/gHSXyGqg   Now surely this kind of AI development is not simple, hence it may still take some time for this kind of AI technology to be adopted for wider use or completely free from human dependency,  as the current model still requires actual human influencer as reference for authenticity, also talking to the influencer's existing audience. Hence maybe not yet able to directly replace the existence of human influencer now.   Nevertheless, here’s what I imagine the development direction for this AI to go, and I may be oversimplifying the process, but conceptually this is what I have in mind : The AI base model will be trained from thousands if not millions of influencers videos and content, learn their persona set, mimic, mapped the personas genome, reference it with human psychological behaviour. As for the outcome, these AI will be able to create Avatars with unlimited amount of human personas iteration, curated to attract certain human behaviour, perfectly matched with brand image, creating a paradox of natural-digital human to be employed as whatever we need them to be, possibly with 1/100 cost of what we are paying now… Basically it can became a digital god... and this may create Ethics complications and certainly needs to be regulated.   If or when this AI really comes in, are we ready to adopt and benefit for it… or will human (influencers) be at loss and replaced?
