Flexibility is a core characteristic for NLP practitioners, especially when navigating unexpected challenges. Recent Hypnotic Practitioner Training provided numerous opportunities to test this adaptability. For instance, switching locations mid-training and entering deep trances to embody admired figures were novel experiences that demanded resilience. This post used research published by me and Gallup colleagues to document the enormous costs imposed by health insurers that were previously largely unmeasured. Those costs include 1) the direct time employees spend, often while at work, interacting with health insurers to determine eligibility, deal with prior approval issues, and try to get claims paid and 2) the even more economically significant cost of reduced employee satisfaction and engagement as a result of having to spend time on the phone with benefits administrators. These costs were estimated after statistically controlling for people's health, and also include evidence for increased absenteeism. One of the reasons the U.S. has the highest per-capita healthcare costs in the world (with poor health outcomes to boot) is because of the administrative inefficiencies of health insurance. Single payer may be desirable, but IS NOT NECESSARY to fix much of the problem. If employers would measure and hold their benefits administrators accountable, and consider total costs in their decision making, employers could make progress in helping to fix the very broken US healthcare system. #NomiHealth #healthinsurance #benefitsadministration #humanresources #healthbenefits #healthcare
