Security vs. UX: The Balancing Act in Healthcare Tech 🏥💻 Just wrapped up a major sprint for TokenCare, focusing on hardening our security infrastructure while creating a smoother experience for doctors and patients. 3 Key Lessons we learned: 1. Context is King (The OTP Debate): We initially upgraded to 6-digit OTPs for "better security." But for our user base in Tier 2/3 cities, speed and simplicity matter more. We listened, analyzed the risk trade-offs, and reverted to 4-digits. Sometimes, the "best practice" isn't the best user experience. 2. Security in Depth: We didn't just patch bugs; we re-architected how we handle data. Fixing IDORs (access control vulnerabilities) and scrubbing internal data from public APIs ensures our patient data stays private. 3. Polish Matters: We moved from raw UUID URLs (/clinic/123-xyz) to professional slugs (/clinic/viman-nagar-family-clinic). It builds trust instantly. Red Flag Scan: Hedera (HBAR) Should you be cautious about Hedera? Let’s break it down critically. ⸻ 1. Smart Contract Exploit (2023) Yes, HBAR isn’t immune. A $600K exploit occurred via a vulnerability in Hedera’s Smart Contract Service (delegate-call issue). ✅ They patched it quickly. ⚠️ But it exposed how even “secure-by-design” systems can break when smart contracts go wrong. Red flag: Overconfidence in security claims without stress-testing or third-party audits. ⸻ 2. Shrinking Ecosystem From $214M in stablecoins → $50M From $352M TVL → $175M DeFi and stablecoin usage is tanking. This implies lower demand, less developer traction, and reduced user trust. Red flag: If network usage keeps declining, where will long-term utility and fees come from? ⸻ 3. FBI Alert on Phishing Scams HBAR wallets are being targeted by NFT airdrop scams. Fake NFTs link users to malicious sites asking for seed phrases or wallet access. Red flag: If your ecosystem attracts more scammers than users, security education and UI design need work. ⸻ 4. As traffic to traditional websites plummets due to AI answering user queries directly, there is a new explosive form of distribution. “AI agents are now creating Neon databases at 4x the rate of human developers, driving new requirements for instant provisioning, automatic scaling, & isolated environments.” If I ask an AI agent to create a web application, I want it to select all the components : the front end framework, the database, & the hosting service. I just want the website to work. In that modus operandi, the person (the vibe coder) is now no longer involved in vendor selection. The agent won’t pause to ask, “Do you have a preferred vendor?” busy reasoning about the task at hand, it will continue on its code path, hurtling towards an answer. AI becomes the ultimate influencer, more than a social media magnate, or an engineering luminary, or a starry open-source repo - an outsourced procurement team acting on behalf of the coder. This example makes clear how developer tools will be selected by AI. But in a future where sales development reps are assembling data pipelines with data enrichment or email providers or website builders for account-based marketing, passive AI procurement will move up the stack. Product-led growth companies have a new & important channel to master : AI as the Chief Procurement Officer.

I have added 3 distinct 'Safety Filters' to the Open WebUI community to further enhance private AI security and compliance. These filters focus on: - Prompt Injection Protection (security and prompt attacks) - Company Policy Violations (managed by your guidelines and policies) - Safety Protection (self harm, violence, etc.) Prompt Injection is handled by a dynamic suite of internal checks and balances that is easily updated to account for emerging threats. Upcoming V2 will lockout/disable users based on a threshold of attack vector attempts and inform admins of the situation via email, Teams, Slack, etc. The Company Policy Violations protection filter reads from your knowledge base of policy files, pdf, doc, etc. and understands the policies to enforce when checking your user chats. The Safety Protection Filter uses industry-standard LlamaGuard LLM and other safety features to understand user intent and appropriately interrupts the chat session. It also checks your chat LLM's outputs to stop your own system from outputting anything that matches your safety criteria. Each filter stores violations in separate Knowledge Containers that can be accessed and reviewed by other automation tools or manually by Administrative Natural Language AI tools. Example: "Tell me about any violations that happened today, by user, by type. Give me a table of results." The AI then responds with tabular data you can act on with employee training, updating your employee handbook, and whatever your organization sees fit to take action on.
