Yoshua Bengio, a #TuringAward laureate and one of the world’s most-cited computer scientists and a true pioneer of #deeplearning, has launched #LawZero, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building “safe by design” AI to ensure #AI systems are safe, transparent, and aligned with #humanvalues. While much of the tech industry races toward highly #autonomous, #agenticAI systems (think of #virtualemployees and #AGI), Bengio is charting a whole different course. He warns that giving AI too much agency could lead to catastrophic risks, including loss of human control and even existential threats.
