Leading Government Organization in Middle-East, struggling with pernicious fraud prevailing in all business areas, was looking for data powered analytics driven approach to proactively detect & prevent fraud.

We built a Fraud Management System powered by a cognitive analytics platform at its core that encompasses data selection, cleansing & real-time extraction; detection, through investigation, triage, case management, and reporting. The platform improved the effectiveness and efficiency of analysts and investigators and closes the gaps in fraud visibility across all channels and areas including Medical Insurance claims, Pension requests, Unemployment benefits and Identity theft.

System comprised of 20+ statistical models that use various cognitive techniques like Neural Networks (Restricted Boltzmann), Time Series Analysis, Semantic Text Analysis, Regression Analysis and Ensemble Techniques to unearth anomalies and generate scores. The statistical models are supplemented by several configurable business rules enabling Real-time Fraud detection and empowering business users with score threshold and transaction volumetric customization for granular control over alerts & investigations.

To reason, the system uses data inputs and established understanding from Model scores and business rules, consider arguments, and prioritize suggestions in form of alerts making recommendations, providing insights, and suggesting discoveries. The system is capable of continuous learning and drawing insights from outcomes of historic investigation performed by inspectors.

The new system will enable client to proactively detect fraud and preemptively curb financial losses thereby resulting in potential yearly savings of approximately 6 Million USD to 27 Million USD radically changing the current fraud detection & prevention process.

Formed and led the team to use information technologies to seek out and understand the opinions of people across the world, resulting from Deloitte re-branding, using computational treatment of opinion, sentiment and subjectivity in text gathered from various sources like Twitter, Facebook, News Websites, Forums and Blogs. Following activities were performed as part of this project -

• Analyzing the sentiments and emotions expressed by public in social media and web articles related to Re-Branding of Deloitte.
• Extraction of social media (Twitter, Facebook & Web articles) contents using R and storing the data in PostgreSQL.
• Performed Sentiment Analysis and Topic modelling on the contents to infer that Re-Branding by Deloitte has been taken positively by people. The prominent emotions exhibited were Trust, Anticipation and Joy.

The interesting part of the project is that we used R for all tasks ranging from Social media data extraction, News/Blogs scraping , Data preparation, Sentiment Analysis,Topic Modeling and Visualization.
