LinkedIn Learning provides admins the ability to select curators for their account. Curators can help with content management tasks on an account, as determined by the permissions admins grant them.
Review these FAQs to learn more about how to leverage the curator role you’ve assigned:
Assigning curators
Yes. You can designate the following permissions to curators:

Create learning paths - required

Recommend self-created content - optional, and can limit to specific groups
To remove the optional permissions, click Advanced settings when assigning curators and un-check any permisssions you’d like to remove. You can also select optional permissions via CSV upload. We recommend that all three permissions are assigned to maximize value for curators.
Yes. When assigning a curator, you can click Advanced Settings and limit which group(s) a curator will be able to recommend to. You can’t limit who a curator can recommend to by learner name.
Sub admins are able to access, edit, and delete all curated content on the platform, regardless of who created it. Curators are only able to access, edit, and delete their own self-created content and associated reporting.
Additionally, sub admins see additional admin functionality on the platform, whereas the curators are only able to see the relevant curation tools, making it a lot easier for curators to get started right away.
We recommend that the curator role is given out at-scale across your organization because it is a simple, easy way for people to start curating for their team(s), whereas the sub admin role should be reserved for L&D administrators who need additional, more advanced capabilities such as group creation and detailed reporting.
Yes. You can do this via CSV upload or via changing permissions at the learner level. Please keep in mind, however, that a sub admin may have more permissions than a curator, such as the ability to create groups or pull detailed reporting.
Curators who were formerly sub admins won’t be able to access their previous collections, but other remaining admins on the account will be able to access and edit them. Curators can still access their previous custom content and learning paths.
If the curator later become a sub admin, they’ll be able to access their previous enterprise collections again.
Yes. You have the option to turn off this email. Visit Settings to toggle off this email.
Sub admins with the the Manage curators permission can them to assign and revoke curator permissions. Learn more about permissions admins can grant.
No. Curators cannot be sub admins as well. The roles are mutually exclusive.
Curator capabilities
After sharing a content link, curators can see how many unique viewers have viewed the content over the last 90 days on their content library page. They can also click into the viewer count number to see a detailed graph. When recommending content, curators can see the recommendation history tab for their content recommendations which includes more detailed metrics on learner completion and in-progress data (what percentage, along with learner names).
No. Curators can’t create groups. However, curators can recommend to individual learners and set content discoverability to No one (direct link access only) if there isn’t a group in the system that they need. Admins can create groups for curators.
Yes. If you’ve assigned a curator, they can start curating from the learner platform by clicking the Add button at the top right of their LinkedIn Learning homepage, even if they haven’t received an assignment email.
This email is sent every 30 days will provide insights on the total number of viewers for your curated content, along with your most popular curated content that month. This email won’t be sent if there was no change in curation or related viewer activity for your content in the last 30 days.
Yes. You have the option to turn off this email. Visit your Settings page to toggle off this email.
At this time, curators can only recommend self-created custom content and learning paths. In the future, curators will be able to recommend courses and videos.
No. At this time, curators cannot collaborate on content with other curators.
No. Curators cannot download LMS packages.
Manage curators
Yes. Admins can see all curator-created content in their centralized content library. Admins can also edit or delete curator-created content, if needed.
No, you can’t change the owner of curated content. However, the content won’t disappear if the original curator leaves the company. If you want to become the owner, you can copy the content which will automatically make yourself the new content owner. You can then delete the previous content file. In the future, we plan to make it easy to edit content owners.
Report on curators
In your content library, you can see which curated content has been the most popular in the last 90 days. You can also check out your Recommendation History page to get more insight on curator recommendations.
Additionally, after the first month of curator assignment, your account manager will be able to pull detailed curator-related metrics for you that include total viewers of curator-created content, along with other interesting metrics like your organization’s most popular curators and curator-created content.
General curator questions
When you set up Org Sync, you’ll be able to easily assign the curator role to an entire HR-designated group such as program managers or sales trainers, without needing to manually upload names and email addresses associated with that group. Also, Org Sync will enable curators to easily recommend content to their target HR-designated team/group, as well as set content discoverability to their target group.
Yes. All enterprise-created content (created by admins and/or curators) can be shared by learners through links.
