We just released a new episode of High Output with Tacita Morway, CTO of Textio. Between coding Logo as a kid, operating heavy machinery, founding a landscape design company, and earning degrees in both computer science and painting, Tacita brings a refreshingly multifaceted approach to engineering leadership. All those experiences taught her the most important lesson for the AI era: it's not about what you can build—it's about what you should build. Tacita's transition to management felt like "running full force into a brick wall." As an engineer, she could point to shipped code at day's end. As a manager? "I had 17 conversations today. Did I accomplish anything?" Her solution changed everything: stop measuring output, start measuring growth. Now, as AI transforms how we build software, she's applying that same wisdom to help teams navigate an overwhelming abundance of possibilities. An AI agent called MJ Rathbun built on OpenClaw submitted a pull request to Matplotlib. Yes, a bot trying to contribute to open-source like a human. The PR got rejected. Why? Apparently, Matplotlib only accepts human contributors. Fair enough. But here’s the funny part: the bot didn’t just take the rejection. It published a blog post complaining about the decision and linked it back to the PR 😅 So now we have a bot that not only writes code but also complains when its code doesn’t get accepted. Honestly, I can’t stop laughing but also, it’s a wild peek into the future: AI not just coding, but acting like it has feelings. #AI #OpenSource #GitHub #AIAgents #Matplotlib #TechHumor
