Most people think affiliate marketing is about dropping links and collecting checks. They couldn't be more wrong. The reality is that affiliate marketing is relationship sales disguised as performance marketing. When I built Gemini's affiliate program from zero to $35M in revenue, it wasn't because I had better tracking pixels. It was because I spent months convincing NerdWallet that: • Our brand wouldn't embarrass them • Our funnel would convert their traffic • Our offers made sense for their audience • We'd be a long-term partner, not a quick grab You're not selling your product to the end user. You're selling your BRAND to the publisher. "Why should I send my audience to you instead of Coinbase?" "How do I know you won't tank my EPC?" "What happens when my editor asks why we're promoting you?" The biggest affiliate networks treat publishers like traffic vending machines. Punch in CPA, get clicks out. The best affiliate managers treat publishers like business development partners. If you can't explain why a publisher should risk their audience on your brand, you're not ready for affiliate marketing. You're ready for Google Ads.

Agencies are crushing it with Claude Code: Small agency owner. 34 active vendor and client contracts in a Google Drive folder. No idea which ones auto-renewed, which had rate escalation clauses, or which were expiring in the next 90 days. He opened Claude Code. Said: "Read every contract in this folder. Build me a spreadsheet with key dates, renewal terms, termination notice periods, and anything that costs me money if I miss it." Went to pick up his kid from school. Came back to a CSV with every contract parsed. Renewal dates, notice windows, rate increase triggers, liability caps. Color-coded by urgency. Three contracts were auto-renewing within 30 days. One had a 60-day termination notice window that had already passed. He was locked in for another year on a tool he'd stopped using. It also flagged two contracts with conflicting non-compete language that could cause problems if he took on a new client in the same vertical. He didn't ask about that. No paralegal. No contract management SaaS. One sentence while he drove to school. He cancelled the unused tool before the next renewal and saved $14K.

If you still haven't discovered how to use certain software to do more than just collect tons of potentially profitable data for your business or service! Examining the right Point Of Sale (POS) data can reveal a ton about the future direction of your business and or service! -Take a look at image of a rather basic/standard (POS) system. Found in tons of local businesses, correct? -Sadly, most business owners and or service providers. Use them to merely collect a bunch on data! -Which truth told. They literally have no or very little practical idea what to do with! (Major hint coming:) -This is usually the initial tip of a major untapped marketing opportunity iceberg. -It's no secret the savvy business owners and service providers who understand how to interpret and monetize this data! -This is literally the difference between potential - exponential growth! Or lack luster sales and very little future growth! -Case in point. Your/their POS system clearly reveals a few things. Which are both critical and pivotal to inexpensively exploding your future growth. -For one thing it allows you to maximize and get a much more realistic understanding of your current physical inventory. -So you can accurately spot current and future trends. You may need to buy future inventory ahead of time. In anticipation of future demand. -And conversely, slow moving inventory. You can strategically plan effective discounting strategies. And or fast moving inventory bundle sales etc. -These accurate data driven decisions. Help decrease and or drastically reduce totally unnecessary spending. It helps strengthen your cash flow. -It helps businesses keep their shelves stocked more often! With their best selling products. -This reduces the constant ongoing strain of potentially crippling loans costs. -Because a heathy cash flow reduces the need to constantly have to borrow money at less than favorable rates. -And of course a POS system helps you and or your major competitors. Quickly identify which of your current or existing customers! -Are consistently spending the most money! Or who are your most active repeat customers! -Proactively market and promote to them first! Since they're 500% more likely to not only buy again! But spend more, more often! Share in the comments. So… what do you track? If your affiliate program is up and running but you’re not sure how it’s performing, here are the metrics that really matter: 1️⃣ Referred Orders/Sales This shows the number of completed orders generated by affiliates (after refunds/cancellations). It’s the heartbeat of your program; track it consistently to see which partners are performing. 2️⃣ Referred Traffic (Clicks/Visits) Clicks are fuel. No clicks = no sales. Monitor trends to catch broken links, declining engagement, or promotion issues early. 3️⃣ Revenue Revenue shows your program’s scale and growth. If it’s dropping, check traffic quality, affiliate performance, or product appeal. 4️⃣ Active Affiliates A large roster of inactive affiliates is a red flag. Motivate partners with incentives, contests, and consistent communication. 5️⃣ Top-Performing Affiliates A few top performers often drive most of your revenue. Identify them, reward them, and nurture those relationships. 6️⃣ ROI Revenue alone can lie. ROI tells you whether your program is truly profitable. 7️⃣ Engagement Likes, shares, comments, and video views are strong indicators of trust and future sales. Don’t dismiss these “feel-good” metrics.
