Alignment doesn't mean agreement. Speed without alignment creates chaos. Waiting for full agreement creates drift. The best teams I've led learned to live in the space between. Be clear on the objective. Be clear on the tradeoffs. Be clear on who owns the call. Then commit and move, even when it's not perfect. "Make a decision and execute" sounds simple. It isn't. But it scales. Consensus doesn't. That's the operating rhythm most teams never find.

When I think about elite value management programs, Autodesk is among the top handful of organizations hitting the cover off the ball. It was a pleasure to be hosted by leadership team in Denver this week. Another packed house of GTM execs listened to their story. So what’s the recipe? I’ll tease out a few key components: ☑️Coming to grips with the fact that buyer expectations have changed and using this as the foundational reason for embracing value management. ☑️Early work to organize around value as an embedded disciple across GTM functions ☑️Launched “Path To Value” initiative which “embeds” value across people, process and platforms throughout the customer lifecycle. Key in this approach is a consistent focus on outcomes and value in all customer facing activities. And lastly, simplification of tools, processes, frameworks and playbooks. ☑️This was not done for Sales but with Sales. Very importantly. The value team embedded themselves into the sales motion. It didn’t try to dramatically alter what they were doing but rather augment and elevate what was already being leveraged. This is a critical miss for most programs. An important nuance. ☑️ Drive cross functional and cross geo alignment around value in the context of a “customer first” experience globally. ☑️ A value steering committee across sales, success, marketing and enablement. This leads to a cohesive presentation to the field. ☑️What about sales buy-in? Establish “value champions” from within the ranks to amplify and scale. In parallel invest in manager coaching. ☑️ Establish value management as critical to supporting and achieving corporate goals, in this case, the customer first experience. ☑️ Results, you ask? here are just a few.. ✳️✳️✳️ 63% uplift in adoption this year ✳️✳️✳️ mid -8 figures of closed won deals ✳️✳️✳️ 25% reduction in sales cycle time Congratulations and thank you to Beth Robins Kaiser Paul Fleming Josh Best for joining me on stage to tell this incredible story which by the way is just getting started! One of the most impactful (and popular) offerings we deliver at Growth Molecules™ is our Customer Journey Mapping Workshop. This is a great listen for all aspiring VP of PMMs. PMM is more than just messaging and positioning, which are basically the inputs. Great PMMs need to focus on driving revenue and growth and one of the key components is having to identify gaps, growth areas, strategize how to win and collaborate across marketing and sales.

Your mind is your greatest weapon, but only if you aim it at reality, not wishful thinking. I don’t want teams who just “see opportunities”. I want people who can sit with the hard data, stare down the constraints, and still find the next smart move. When something blocks you this week, treat it as a brief from the market: 'What is this trying to teach us, and what is the smallest useful action we can take now'? That shift from anxiety to curiosity is where progress actually starts.

I've spent 25 years fixing broken CS orgs. I spent 5 years at The Trade Desk building a support org for 100+ people. When I arrived, the team was running at 55% utilization. No clear KPIs. No customer health visibility. Reactive workflows only. A team that was exhausted and had no runway to do their best work. 18 months later: → Utilization: 85% → NPS: 95%+ → And we held that NPS for 4 consecutive years The playbook wasn't complicated. But it required someone who had done it before and could move fast. It’s Friday. Somewhere right now a customer is sitting on hold, listening to the same piano loop for the third time, wondering if anyone actually knows who they are. What’s interesting is that most companies already have the answer. The data exists. The past purchases. The last support ticket. The conversation from yesterday. But inside many contact centers, every interaction still begins like a first date. “Can you confirm your account number?” “Can you explain the issue again?” Customers don’t experience your org chart. They experience the moment. The companies winning in #CX right now aren’t the ones adding more #AI features. They’re the ones designing systems where the conversation simply continues. No restart. No repetition. Just progress. Simple question going into the weekend: In your organization, does the conversation continue or does it reset?
