The pattern is consistent: companies spend 12-18 months fixing financial systems they thought were adequate. Audit committees want to see proven controls. Underwriters need confidence in your numbers. The SEC doesn't care that your scrappy startup systems "got you this far." Here's what changed for one finance leader: Board presentations used to take 2-3 hours: run saved searches, export to Excel, build pivot tables, write commentary, format slides. After implementing new capabilities: under 1 minute. System generates executive summary with variance analysis, flags patterns, recommends actions. The shift wasn't speed. It was moving from report creation to insight interpretation.
