The value of the Latino audience is nothing new. According to the latest Hispanic Sentiment Study by We Are All Human Foundation, in partnership with Nielsen and TelevisaUnivision, the economic output of U.S. Latinos has more than doubled in the last decade alone, surging from $1.6 trillion to $4.1 trillion today. There are many important findings in this study. Kudos to Claudia Romo Edelman and her team for producing the 2025 Hispanic Sentiment Study. The impact of this study is especially meaningful in California, Texas and Florida. During the UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS) event, I had the opportunity to talk with Mauricio Andres Garcia Senior Vice President for Programs at UnidosUS. We spoke about the importance of Latino media in Spanish – and how, in many cases, Latinos consume social media far more than traditional outlets. We also talked about how these outlets become a meeting point within our communities, a place where people connect, share, and build trust. In many cases – and it may sound surprising – Spanish-language media are the 9-1-1 for Latinos. If many people could see and read the messages we receive asking for help, they would understand why I say this. We are the 9-1-1 for those who don’t speak English and can only communicate in Spanish. That role puts us in a unique position compared to other media, allowing us to operate and grow in ways deeply tied to the needs and voices of our communities. This is why supporting and strengthening Latino media is not just important — it’s essential for the stories we tell, the trust we build, and the communities we serve.
