He had 6+ years of experience, strong client handling skills, but hadn’t received a meaningful interview call in months. Most roles he found were outdated, unclear, or not aligned with his background. What changed wasn’t his experience, it was access. He came across a live role on Mintly that actually matched his skill set. Clear expectations. Active recruiter. He applied quickly and got a call within days. We recently announced a strategic realignment of our Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus Stores teams. With this move, all customer-facing functions for these brands, including Brand Partnerships & Buying, Merchandise Planning, Marketing, Digital, Commercial Analytics and Customer Insights, and now Store Experience will be part of the Saks Global Commercial organization, led by Emily Essner, President and Chief Commercial Officer. The structure will allow us to move quickly as an integrated team to capture opportunities to maximize growth and better serve our customers and partners as work to redefine luxury retail. With this change in structure, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mary McGreevy to Chief Stores Officer, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. 🚨 Heads-up. The latest Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) Quarterly Executive Sentiment Survey reveals that the footwear industry's outlook remains bleak in the short term. ⬆️ Rising costs and retail prices, driven by tariffs, are expected to hit hard in the second half of the year as both the economy and consumer spending weaken. ⬇️ More than 6 in 10 respondents report lower sales compared to 6 months ago, marking a record share. ⛈️ Respondents’ prospects for the economy are comparably pessimistic from the prior quarter, with 82% seeing the 6-month outlook weaker or very weak. Oh, also: A staggering 88% of respondents foresee a weaker shoe shopper over the next 6 months. As a result a near-record share anticipates lower sales over the next 6 months, while a record 49% fear lower comp sales over the next 6 months. Not a good look. Often times consumers only see the final product, but what does it take to produce something at scale? 🤔 Especially if that something has nothing on it. 🧐 Off the strength of an introduction by his late friend and business partner, June unintentionally set a new standard in apparel design by offering premium essentials. We’re excited to share an important leadership update at the Black in Jewelry Coalition. We’ve appointed five new members to our Board of Directors: Thomas Davis, Monalisa DePina Ray, Jamie Batiste, Nicole Batumike, and Lavina Hunt-Lewis. Each of these leaders brings valuable experience across business development, communications, retail, advocacy, responsible sourcing, and global operations. Together, their perspectives and expertise strengthen our ability to expand representation, increase access, and create meaningful professional pathways for Black professionals across the gem, jewelry, and watch industry. As we move forward, this expanded board helps position BIJC for continued growth—deepening partnerships, strengthening programming, and delivering even more value to our members and community. We’re proud of this next chapter and grateful for the leadership and shared commitment guiding our work ahead.
