Yesterday I posted about consolidation pressure in automotive aftermarket parts. That dynamic is not isolated to automotive, and it is not confined to the U.S. U.S.-based capital is increasingly the control center for consolidation across global aftermarket and MRO markets, including automotive, aerospace, agriculture, and industrial equipment. What begins as a domestic transaction often becomes a global supply chain dependency as regional players are absorbed into fewer, larger platforms and supplier optionality narrows across geographies. Ownership changes propagate globally. Local resilience becomes harder to maintain. Structural consolidation isn’t sector-specific, it’s a cross-industry supply chain risk that procurement and risk teams must actively manage. Aerospace MRO provides another clear example. Among VSE’s acquisition spree, most recently the purchase of Precision Aviation Group, materially expands its scale across aerospace distribution, MRO, and engineering services while extending reach across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. AI, data, and connected technology are reshaping automotive retail At NADA Show 2026, Lisa Gosselin highlighted that dealers who unify their tools can improve efficiency, address inventory pressure, and apply AI in practical ways that deliver measurable results. The biggest risk I see is not slow adoption - it’s fragmented execution. Teams operate from different datasets, customer signals arrive too late, and leaders are forced to make decisions with limited visibility. Technology is no longer an innovation topic; it is becoming a baseline requirement for staying competitive. For executives, this means performance will increasingly depend on how clearly your organization sees what is happening across the business. When data is reliable and usable, inventory decisions improve, customer engagement becomes more deliberate, and efficiency stops being theoretical. AI can support this progress, but only when it is applied to real operational problems. If you’re leading a tech-heavy company, consider asking a simpler question: Do our teams have the clarity they need to act decisively? The organizations pulling ahead are not chasing trends - they are focusing on better information, stronger coordination, and decisions grounded in facts. For most of my career, I’ve worked in and around technology, building or leveraging solutions to improve business processes. So, when I entered the car wash industry 10 years ago, the first thing we looked for were tools to help us operate more efficiently. What we found instead was a technology gap. Whether it was marketing, point of sale, analytics, or operations, most of the solutions available were years behind. We made a lot of progress by borrowing tools from other industries, but purpose-built software for car wash operators has been hard to come by. That’s why I’m excited about the evolution of WashStacks and our integration with NXT Wash LLC. While most point-of-sale systems are still catching up, NXT is pushing the industry forward. This partnership allows us to enhance our capabilities and continue delivering on our goal: to provide car wash operators the kind of modern, connected management tools they’ve been missing for far too long.

Thank you for sharing this Emily Brackett! This is certainly important to tech - but really important for so many brands in other industries, too. I think a really good test is to get someone who ISN'T in your organization to read your website homepage and ask them to answer these 3 questions: Who does my company (product or service) help? How does it help my clients (customers)? Why should they care? And, if they don't get all three answers correct - it's time to rethink the messaging!

Dealer Choice Beats OEM Compliance OEM programs love telling dealers what tools they “must” use. Then those tools drain time, frustrate employees, and quietly choke profitability. If you’re responsible for the checks, the floorplan, the CSI, and the customer experience… you deserve the right to choose tools that actually work. The villain isn’t the dealership.
