Challenges Sales & Marketing Teams Face in the PACS Industry 🚑💻 Working in the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) space is both exciting and challenging. While digital imaging is transforming healthcare, selling and positioning PACS solutions comes with unique hurdles that many outside the industry may not fully understand. Some key challenges we face: 🔹 Long & Complex Sales Cycles Hospital decisions involve multiple stakeholders—radiologists, IT teams, procurement, finance, and management. Aligning everyone takes time. 🔹 Price Sensitivity & Budget Constraints Even though PACS is mission-critical, healthcare providers are highly cost-conscious. Demonstrating ROI beyond just “storage and viewing” is essential. 🔹 Legacy Systems & Resistance to Change Many centers still run on outdated systems. Convincing them to migrate—without disrupting operations—is a major concern. 🔹 Customization vs. Standardization Every hospital workflow is different. Balancing scalable products with client-specific customization is a constant challenge. 🔹 Regulatory & Compliance Requirements Data security, NABH, HIPAA, and local compliance add layers of complexity in positioning and deployment. 🔹 Educating the Market Many buyers still see PACS as a “viewer software,” not as a digital imaging ecosystem. Continuous education is required to shift this mindset. Despite these challenges, the opportunity is massive. As AI, cloud, and enterprise imaging grow, PACS will remain at the center of digital healthcare transformation.
