The University of Detroit Mercy College of Engineering & Science has been partnering with Riipen to bring authentic industry projects into some of our classes, providing real-world, open-ended experiences to our students that supplement their theoretical coursework while preparing them for their required co-ops and the careers that will follow. Michigan industry leaders — we need your voice at the table. The University of Michigan-Flint's College of Innovation & Technology just received a landmark grant from the National Science Foundation through the EPIIC program (Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity). The whole point of this funding? To build research partnerships that actually matter to industry — not in a lab vacuum, but driven by the real challenges Michigan companies face every day. Here's the thing: we don't want to guess what those challenges are. We want you to tell us. On March 3rd, we're hosting an event at Automation Alley to do exactly that — bring together R&D leaders, innovation teams, and decision-makers from across Michigan's manufacturing, automotive, pharma, food & beverage, and technology sectors to help us shape a research agenda that delivers real value back to your organizations and our region. This isn't a pitch. It's a conversation. We're asking industry to help us co-create the path forward — identifying the applied research questions, workforce needs, and technology gaps where UM-Flint CIT can be a meaningful partner. UM-Flint is Michigan's polytechnic university in the making. Our students learn by doing. Our faculty are building research programs in AI, cybersecurity, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and software engineering.
