Elite high school sports “is going to be one of the more valuable media rights [categories] and nationally monetized [broadcast] products in the next 10-20 years,” Michael Schreiber (founder and executive chairman, Playfly Sports) said. A secondary site is an underrated technology and consumer process that is not only expensive but also labor intensive. It involves complex technical requirements, order processing, and consumer-facing communication. Inventory feeds must be pulled from multiple providers, representing billions of dollars in tickets, each requiring extensive technology integration. This is before considering integrations with thousands of seat maps, event catalogs updated minute by minute for hundreds of thousands of events, order processing, fraud evaluation for every order, chargeback handling, automated delivery APIs, and then the most expensive component: digital marketing. TicketNetwork offers a private-label solution that covers everything except marketing. This is where the industry is heading. It is far more cost-effective to use a template-based website with infrastructure, delivery, and service included. You can customize inventory feeds, service fees, and more. One little-known fact about the ticket industry is that it is not only expensive but also labor intensive and among the most technically complex integrations in e-commerce. Even Amazon attempted it and ultimately decided to shut it down.
