After years of observing how organizations tackle these challenges, I can tell you this: the companies that thrive post-downsizing aren’t just those that stay afloat; they invest in the people who navigate the storm with them. A concerning insight from the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report states that 22% of jobs globally could face disruption by 2030. Here's where most organizations get it wrong—they think downsizing means cutting everything, including development budgets. But here's what the data shows us: when you invest in your people during tough times, they don't just stay—they become your competitive advantage. As a leader, you must shift to an investment mindset and start asking, "How do we make our remaining team unstoppable?" Let me give you a specific example that's working right now: English proficiency certification programs. Before you roll your eyes and think "another training program," hear me out.
