Comparing Lululemon and Abercrombie was such a flex-here’s the breakdown: A Substack post by Camille Moore analyzes the contrasting marketing strategies of Lululemon and Abercrombie & Fitchin their partnerships with the NFL. 1. The Comparison - Lululemon ("Renting" the Logo): Moore criticizes Lululemon for a "lazy" strategy. They simply put NFL team logos on existing products (like Align leggings) and sold them through Fanatics. She argues this is a short-term traffic hack that doesn't build long-term brand loyalty because the customer is loyal to the NFL, not Lululemon. - Abercrombie ("World-Building"): In contrast, Abercrombie spent three years building their partnership. One thing this Gen Z luxury conversation made clear: This isn’t a resale vs. new luxury debate. It’s a question of identity vs. access. Resale gives Gen Z access through price, sustainability, and discovery. New luxury is where a smaller segment builds identity, taste, and personal narrative. The brands winning Gen Z right now aren’t shouting status. Instead, they’re leaning into archives, craftsmanship, emotion, and cultural memory. Luxury isn’t disappearing. It’s shifting to become more intentional with the Gen Z audience.

More and more brands are turning to Pinterest to unlock new audiences. That was the play for resale platform ThredUp when they came to Haus. They had already tested the waters on Pinterest but wanted to see how far they could scale their presence on the platform. They designed a 2-cell holdout test in the Haus app to establish a baseline for Pinterest’s incremental impact, using New Purchasers as the primary KPI. For five weeks, half of their audience wouldn’t see ads, while the other half would. (They also included a two-week post-treatment window to measure lagged effects.) The results blew away expectations. Pinterest drove a 1.53% lift in New Purchasers — and did so efficiently, with a CPIA that was 40% lower than their goal. Energized by the results, the ThredUp team is now scaling Pinterest spend and gearing up to re-test at a higher investment level to validate just how far they can push spend on the platform.
