Some thoughts on this pattern where impressions plummet and average ranking position increases... An impression only registers in GSC if someone sees your site on a search. If you rank on page 3 but no one scrolls that far then you don't see that impression on GSC. It makes sense to me that rank trackers and AI tools who were scraping all 10 pages for a query were creating artificial impressions. Remove those, and yeah, your impressions decline and the average keyword ranking goes up.
