Controversial Take? Are Fiserv and FIS giving banking clients to Fintech? Fiserv has joined FIS in partnering with Affirm to offer BNPL to debit card holders for their member banks. Here is the issue. The BNPL loans, servicing, and customer relationship will be managed by Affirm. Yes, the same Affirm that has 2.8MM debit cards and has grown their debit cards by 104% in the last year. Why would I, as a financial institution, let the proverbial fox in the hen house? "Wells Fargo sent a cease and desist letter to one data aggregator warning the company to stop using the bank’s corporate logo and other intellectual property on its website and effectively demanding that it go through Akoya—the bank-backed data provider—rather than linking to Wells Fargo directly, according to multiple people familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss business relationships."
