This article is a good reminder that we can generate metrics all day long. But the key is metrics that indicate risk. While the title is for MSPs to have a risk conversation in reviews, the lessons are good for any controls ownes by anyone. One rule of thumb when I evaluate metrics is to see if there are tolerances (eg should I be worried or not?) and then if I’m worried is there an action to take that will reduce risk. Now a counter to this …. I admit there is utility to counting large numbers such as attacks blocked at the firewall for “wow” numbers that let others know the threat is alive and our tooling is doing great. https://lnkd.in/gyCisbvw

The EHR is no longer a vault; it’s an open data platform. If your interoperability strategy is built on compliance, you're falling behind. If it's built on actionable intelligence, you're ready for the age of AI. On yesterday’s Scottsdale Institute webinar, Mike Cordeiro (MEDITECH) challenged the industry to move past the "regulatory checkbox" and embrace a shared mental model for connected care. Creating the shared mental model: 🔘 Kill the PDF: We are moving from static documents to FHIR-based real-time data. This means "trending" insights (like labs and meds) live inside the native workflow, not a separate tab. 🔘 No Data, No AI: You cannot have an AI strategy without a data strategy. Normalization and reconciliation are the absolute prerequisites; without them, your AI models will fail. 🔘 Culture > Tech: The technical infrastructure for TEFCA exists, but the real barriers are cultural. We must embrace the true meaning of interoperability: Patients own their health data. Organizations must move past institutional silos to support patients in sharing that data responsibly. Cybernews research team analyzed the 100 largest US hospitals and health systems websites and evaluated their cybersecurity posture. In 2024, healthcare data breaches reached an all-time high, with 276,775,457 records compromised – a 64.1% increase from the previous year’s record and equivalent to 81.38% of the United States population. Despite managing sensitive patient data, findings reveal that healthcare organizations still struggle with corporate customer data protection.
