“Brian provided system and software engineering expertise for a Ruby on Rails start-up business of ours. I specifically wanted Brian for this role because Ruby and Rails skills were hard to find and I knew he would learn both quickly. He did. He did a lot of Ruby, Rails and Javascript software development for our project. He was new to Rails, but he quickly developed a detailed understanding of how Rails operates under the covers, and was able to provide design insight into how to best implement our system's functions and features. He also recommended and implemented many (previously written by others) Rails GEMS to speed up our effort and leverage what others in the Rails community had already developed. By doing this, he saved us a lot of development time and effort. He also networked extensively within the Rails and StackOverflow communities to find solutions to bugs and problems we encountered during coding. Brian's code is well written and documented, but his architecture skills, intellect and resourcefulness is what made his work on our project truly outstanding.”

A method and system for importing data comprising the downloading of product data from different sources and in different formats; processing the downloaded data by at least comparing it with data downloaded and stored in a product database; and reviewing the results of the comparison to detect differences in the data, the differences potentially being errors. The system and methods further comprise connecting the downloaded data from its supplier specific format into a standard format; comparing the downloaded data in the standard format with a previously downloaded data set saved in the standard format; categorizing the product data based on the results of the second comparison; and processing each category of data independently to automatically update the product database.
