I always tell devs: if you're stuck on what to build with AI, reverse-engineer real tools. Try this: - Look at GitHub Copilot—what does it automate? - Use Grammarly—how does it rewrite? - Play with Notion AI—what prompts power it? Then, recreate a tiny version of one. That’s the best way to learn.

Code generation has finally vindicated my programming philosophy. For years I've listened to people obsessed with level design patterns and extensibility, but the true wisdom isn't there. You shouldn't focus on making code extendable. You should focus on making code replaceable. Spending time trying to architect for every unknown is a waste, but being able to swap out large logic sections in your application (mostly) painlessly is the true big brain developer move.

pro tip: teach your coding agent to make small commits. add pre-commit hooks in the same way you used conventional commits. pretty rad.
