  • LabVIEW 2 axis gimbal control system

    -

    Control and data acquisition system set up in LabVIEW and run on a remote target LabVIEW IO card.

    System commutates and sends command motor voltages for position and velocity control of a two axis gimbal.

  • Microwave Calibration Load Thermal Control Design

    -

    Wrote python scripts to interface with thermocouples through a DAQ/MUX and heating elements (through USB communication with power supply) to take data for hot calibration load thermal system identification.

    Data was used to validate and adjust physics based model.

    New model was then used for PI control design in matlab, and control scheme was then tested/validated on the real system using python.

  • Linear Control Scheme for Planar Quadcopter with Hanging Payload

    -

    Created a mathematical model, simulation and control scheme for planar motion of a quadcopter with hanging mass.

    Utilized partial plant linearization and a set of LQR gains to create a control approach which successfully controlled the fully non-linear plant (in simulation only) between two points, while also positioning the hanging mass directly above a target.

    All work done in MATLAB.

  • Optimal F-16 pitch control with noise rejection

    -

    Utilized linear matrix inequalities (LMI) in MATLAB to attenuate sensor noise while simultaneously forcing F-16 pitch plant response to mimic a simple pitch profile.

    Use of LMI formulation of the control problem allows for control of multiple input-output relationships for a single plant. In the context of this project it allowed for the minimization of the norm of the transfer function between the sensor noise and the plant response, while also minimizing the plants tracking error.

  • Simulink Real Time HIL Gimbal Controller

    Adaptation of LabVIEW gimbal control scheme to run with Simulink real time. Deployed on a LabVIEW chassis, which reads in commanded angles and rates from a UDP/IP link with the profile generator.

    The simulink RT scheme takes these commands, reads in the current position of the gimbal via 2 speed resolvers. It then computes the required control voltages to send to the motors and carries out a sinusoidal commutation to achieve smooth torque profile.
