Send messages using templates in Recruiter

Last updated: 5 months ago

You can use message templates you’ve created or those shared by your team to send messages to candidates in LinkedIn Recruiter.

If an admin on your contract disables automated follow-up messages, all related templates, including 2-message templates, will no longer appear in Product settings or while composing a message.

If you choose to touch up your template with AI assistance while drafting a message, AI-Assisted Messages will incorporate relevant candidate information into your draft to create a personalized message.

Who can use this feature?

You can touch up a template when drafting initial recruiting outreach messages that use an English template with more than 300 characters. LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services (RPS) customers can only touch up a template in 1:1 messages, not bulk messages. The template touch up feature is unavailable for messages to applicants, apply starters, shared applicants, or internal candidates.

To send a message using a template:

  1. On a candidate’s profile, click the Message icon.

  2. Search for your template in the Search for a template… text box and select your template from the dropdown.

    • Templates that you’ve created appear under My Templates in the dropdown. Templates created and shared by other users on your dashboard appear under Shared Templates.
  3. Optional: Click the Touch up with AI or Touch up all with AI button at the bottom of the message to refine it.

    • Click the Next icon below the message to review the AI drafts. To navigate back to the template in its original state, click the Previous icon.
  4. Make any desired changes to the message and click Send.

    • Click the Cancel icon in the top right corner of the message window to go back without sending your message.
