Sign in to Recruiter with your personal LinkedIn account

Last updated: 1 month ago

When you access LinkedIn Recruiter through your employer’s license, you must sign in using your personal LinkedIn account. This connection is required because Recruiter is built to work with the professional identity and network you’ve already established on LinkedIn. Linking your account unlocks more relevant results, more trusted outreach, and a seamless experience across LinkedIn products, all while keeping your personal data protected.

If you don’t have a LinkedIn account yet, you’ll need to create a personal LinkedIn account when accessing Recruiter for the first time. This will serve as your professional profile across LinkedIn and is required for Recruiter usage.

Why linking your personal LinkedIn profile matters

Recruiter is designed to work seamlessly with the professional identity and network you’ve built on LinkedIn. When you sign in with your personal LinkedIn account, you unlock key benefits that help you find and engage the right candidates more effectively.

  • Authentic outreach tied to your real profile: Your messages and interactions in Recruiter come from your real LinkedIn profile, which helps build trust and credibility with candidates. Eligible users may also display a Verified Recruiter workplace verification label on their profile, adding an extra layer of authenticity.
  • Stronger results using your existing network: Recruiter leverages your LinkedIn connections to surface shared relationships and other signals that help you evaluate and engage candidates more efficiently. These insights wouldn’t be available if you used a standalone account.
  • More relevant results and recommendations: Because Recruiter understands your network and professional history, it can provide more accurate searches, smarter suggestions, and more personalized insights. This helps you move faster and find stronger matches.
  • Privacy protections built in: Connecting your personal LinkedIn profile does not give your company access to your personal LinkedIn activity. Only publicly visible profile information is associated with your Recruiter activity. Your employer cannot see your:
    • Personal messages
    • Notifications
    • Feed
    • Private actions outside of Recruiter usage metrics

Important reminder about LinkedIn accounts

If you have a duplicate account, Recruiter won't be able to generate quality results using your LinkedIn connections compared to your personal account. LinkedIn’s User Agreement allows each member to maintain only one personal LinkedIn account. Using your existing account keeps you compliant while ensuring you get the best experience across LinkedIn and Recruiter.

If you accidentally linked the wrong personal LinkedIn account or created a duplicate, contact us to switch the account connected to your Recruiter access.
