Verified on LinkedIn APIs overview

What are the Verified on LinkedIn APIs?

The Verified on LinkedIn APIs enable approved partners to leverage LinkedIn verification information to build platform trust. With member consent, a developer can leverage a member’s verification details. Access and use of the APIs requires approval and compliance with OAuth standards.

If you're building or managing a platform that relies on user credibility—such as marketplaces, online reviews, or professional services—the Verified on LinkedIn APIs allow you to surface verified identity signals directly from LinkedIn. This can improve user confidence on your platform. Currently, we have three versions of the API: Verified on LinkedIn Development, Verified on LinkedIn Lite, Verified on LinkedIn Plus.

Verified on LinkedIn Development

Any developer can immediately access this self-serve API to access only their own verification information in order to test the API. This tier is immediately available on the LinkedIn Developer Portal.

Verified on LinkedIn Lite

Any developer can request access to the self-serve Verified on LinkedIn Lite API. This API shares only light weight verification signals. You can request access to the API on the LinkedIn Developer Portal. With member consent, a developer can leverage a member’s verification details as well as basic profile information.

Verified on LinkedIn Plus

Verified on LinkedIn Plus is a private integration available to approved partners. The Plus API enables LinkedIn members to share a wider range of verified profile information outside of LinkedIn, which can add a layer of trust and authenticity when offering services, expertise, or products.

What gets shared?

With both Lite and Plus, your end users who are also LinkedIn members can consent to share limited information about their LinkedIn profile and verifications.

Verified on LinkedIn Development allows a developer to access only their own verification information in order to test the API. This version is immediately available on the LinkedIn Developer Portal.

Verified on LinkedIn Lite is designed to provide lightweight trust signals without exposing detailed personal or workplace information. Lite returns only a limited set of profile fields—such as the member’s first and last name, profile photo, LinkedIn profile URL, login email, and general presence of a verification category (e.g., identity or workplace).

Verified on LinkedIn Plus is intended for approved partners that require deeper verification data. In addition to information included in the Lite API, the Plus API may return verified work emails, ID-verified names, the date and method of each verification, and limited professional or educational details such as current company, title, school, degree, and logos.

Key considerations

  • This is a pilot program and availability is limited.
  • Before LinkedIn will share user data via the API, the user must consent to that sharing of data.
  • Removing the “Verified on LinkedIn” label requires both disconnecting the third-party service in LinkedIn settings and contacting the third party to delete stored data.
  • LinkedIn reserves the right to reject or remove any partners based on evaluation or misuse of API as outlined within the API guidelines and terms.
