LinkedIn AI-powered conversation

Last updated: 3 weeks ago

LinkedIn’s AI-powered conversation is an early-stage LinkedIn feature. This feature uses AI to ask questions about your professional background and respond to your answers, simulating a realistic conversation.

Your conversation data and related AI-generated insights will be used to supplement the information already on your LinkedIn profile to help us better match you to relevant AI training projects based on your experience and expertise, and to assess your fit for specific projects. We may also use this information to suggest updates to your LinkedIn profile.

The questions are dynamically generated using information from your LinkedIn profile.

Important to know

  • You must answer at least three (3) questions for the AI-powered conversation to be considered complete.
  • We’re gradually making this experience available, and you might not have access to it at this time.

How it works

  • AI helps generate questions based on your LinkedIn profile.

  • You respond with voice-based answers at your convenience.

  • After you complete the conversation, we use your responses and AI-generated insights to recommend relevant AI training projects (subject to your settings).

  • If you apply to an AI training project, we use this information to assess your fit for the project.

  • Responses are evaluated based on relevance, clarity, and alignment with your experience and the project requirements.

How to access and use the feature

You can complete the AI-powered conversation from the AI Trainer Checklist.

  • To begin, click Start conversation.
  • To submit, click End conversation.

We recommend completing the conversation in a quiet, private setting and ensuring your device microphone permissions are enabled.

How AI-powered conversations process member data

  • The AI-powered conversation feature processes personal data to create a conversation plan, conduct the conversation, and generate insights.

  • Personal Data

    • Profile Questions: This feature uses the data you provide on your LinkedIn profile to adapt the questions to your specific background and domain.
    • Conversation Content: LinkedIn records personal data during the AI-powered conversation, including your verbal responses. You can limit the personal data shared by choosing what information to disclose and by participating in the conversation in a private environment free of audio from others.
    • Conversation Insights: Personal data is generated about the AI-powered conversation, including the date, time, length of the conversation, transcript, and summary insights.
  • Once you complete the AI-powered conversation and apply to an AI Trainer job, our Project matching team will receive:

    • A full transcript of the conversation
    • The audio recording
    • AI-generated insights summarizing key themes from your responses

You can access a copy of your AI-powered conversation by downloading your data. To delete this information, you can submit a deletion request.

How is LinkedIn ensuring AI content won’t include any discriminatory, abusive, or biased content?

LinkedIn strives to ensure that its products and services are fair, including by measuring and mitigating algorithmic bias. Our objective is to ensure equally qualified members receive equal treatment by our models. As with all our products, our teams continuously assess our systems, and if harmful biases are identified, we will work to address them.

What are LinkedIn’s Responsible AI Principles?

AI is not new to LinkedIn. LinkedIn has long used AI to enhance our members’ professional experiences. By leveraging the power of AI, we help our members connect, increase productivity, and achieve success in their careers.

Inspired by, and aligned with, Microsoft’s leadership in Responsible AI, LinkedIn applies Responsible AI Principles that we use to guide our work.
