Integration benefits

The Workday HCM and LinkedIn Learning Career Hub integration offers the following benefits:

  • Align with your structure: Sync your job architecture to ensure learning and career features reflect the way your organization defines roles.
  • Save time with AI suggestions: LinkedIn can suggest skills and descriptions to help fill gaps or accelerate build-out.
  • Stay current with market trends: Benefit from LinkedIn’s skills intelligence to keep your data aligned with market shifts.
  • Prepare for future personalization: Including employee-level data is optional today. It doesn’t yet power Career Hub experiences but lays the groundwork for future career paths and targeted learning.

System requirements

LinkedIn Learning Workday HCM SFTP Server
  • Admin access to Career Hub

  • Permission to manage integrations

  • Access to create/export custom reports

  • Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) access

  • Note: If “Create Only Temporary Reports” is enabled, access may expire after one week.

  • Secure SFTP server for data delivery

  • SSH key pair for authentication

  • SFTP credentials from LinkedIn (host, username)

Setup workflow

  1. Create custom reports in Workday

    • Report 1: Job architecture data

  2. Generate SSH Key Pair

    • Create a public/private SSH key pair in your Workday environment
  3. Set up SFTP in LinkedIn Learning

    • Upload the public SSH key
    • Retrieve SFTP credentials (host, username)
  4. Build an EIB in Workday

    • Format output as JSON
    • Set delivery method to SFTP
  5. Schedule syncs

    • Set the EIB to run on a regular cadence for continuous updates.
    • Each sync overwrites the existing data in Career Hub. Edits made directly in Career Hub must also be updated in Workday before the next sync or they will be lost.

Limitations

Please review the following limitations in the Workday and LinkedIn Learning integration.

  • One-way only: Data flows from Workday into Career Hub, but not back into Workday.
  • Sync behavior: Each scheduled sync updates and replaces the data in Career Hub with the latest from Workday. To preserve changes, make updates in Workday before the next sync.
  • Custom skills: Today, only skills ingested that match those in LinkedIn’s standard skill taxonomy will surface in Career Hub. 100% of custom skills are stored and will appear in the platform later this year.
  • Role mapping: Some roles may require manual mapping to LinkedIn’s standard titles for the best experience.
  • Certification: This is not a Workday-certified integration, so joint marketing or Workday-provided support is not included.
