“I am currently finishing my undergraduate degree in Physics. I enrolled in the AI and Data Science Program by MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) because I wanted to pursue research while also working in the industry. To align with that path, I decided to orient my career toward Data Science, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, fields where I believe my background in physics provides a strong foundation. In January this year, I joined HP as a Data Analyst Intern, and from the very first few weeks, I was able to apply what I learned in the program, especially EDA and presenting results effectively. Currently, I’m exploring opportunities to optimize processes by applying Machine Learning. Balancing my Physics degree, the program, and my role at HP was definitely challenging. However, by managing my time well and staying consistent, I was able to gain the skills needed to complete the program successfully. This program has equipped me with a wide range of tools, from strengthening my Python programming skills and deepening my understanding of EDA, to mastering Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts, and learning how to choose the right algorithms based on the problem at hand. Just as importantly, I learned how to present insights and communicate results effectively, which is essential to standing out as a Data Scientist. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone considering it. My advice: make the most of the hands-on practice, it’s what truly builds strong, practical skills. The best part of this program is that it offers real-life problems and solutions that you can immediately apply in your job.” Diego Neeiman Mateos Cerda Data Analyst Intern, HP Learner of the AI and Data Science Program Want to know more about the program? What AI Can (and Can’t) Do in 2026: A Reality Check This session by Saurabh Kango breaks down what AI can actually do in 2026, and where it still falls short. From strengths like pattern recognition, predictive analytics, content generation, and automation of routine work, to limitations like hallucinations, weak reasoning, context constraints, and bias. It also covers what’s truly production-ready, spotlighting high-ROI use cases like customer support automation, forecasting, document summarization, and assisted decision-making—plus how to measure real impact. “As I near completion of the Certificate Program in Applied Generative AI and Agentic AI by Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, the most significant change has been in how I think and operate strategically in my executive role. The program has strengthened my ability to connect Generative AI concepts to real business value, especially in the areas of growth, strategy, partnerships, investor discussions, and long-term planning. The program has absolutely contributed to meaningful professional growth within my current role and has enhanced how I lead, communicate, and evaluate opportunities at the executive level. I have been applying the program’s learnings by better evaluating where Generative AI can create practical value within enterprise workflows, strategic partnerships, and business development initiatives. At InMapz, this has been especially relevant in helping me think through AI-ready operations, intelligent workflows, product positioning, and how to communicate these opportunities more effectively to partners, investors, and stakeholders. One of the biggest confidence boosts has been my ability to speak more clearly and credibly about AI strategy in a business context. The program has helped me contribute more thoughtfully to conversations around growth, innovation, and future-facing opportunities for InMapz, particularly where AI, digital twins, and enterprise operations intersect. That has strengthened both my confidence and the value I bring to strategic discussions. My advice would be to focus on practical application. The greatest value comes from not only learning the concepts but from actively thinking about how they can be used in your own role, industry, or business environment. This program is especially powerful when you use it to improve not just your technical understanding, but also your communication, strategic thinking, and ability to identify real opportunities for impact." - Ahad Jamie Hoskins CFO and Head of Capital Development & Strategic Partnerships, InMapz Inc. Can machines predict the stock market? 🤔 Learners from the PG Program in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at the McCombs School of Business took on this challenge—building models that combine past stock data and market sentiment (like news mood) to forecast prices. In simple terms, they taught machines to read both numbers and emotions to make smarter predictions about stocks like Reliance, TCS, SBI, and HDFC Bank. A powerful example of how AI is moving from theory to real-world financial decision-making.
