  • At Dow, we believe the future of product innovation lies at the intersection of materials science, data and real‑world performance. The data and insights gathered from our revolutionary mattress testing collaboration with GoodBed shows how science can go a long way towards unlocking more personalized recommendations for consumers. GoodBed's redesigned mattress matching quiz will help support each individual sleeper by providing their best overall mattress fit. Check out the post below from Michael Magnuson to learn more about this new platform!

Most product “finders” on the internet work the same way. They filter based on whatever the manufacturer says about the product – a handful of basic specs that are often simplified and not especially consistent. At the same time, review sites take a different approach. They evaluate products and explain how well they actually perform. But those insights are typically unstructured and trapped within articles or videos, without a clear way to use them to find the right product for you. We set out to improve both of these. On the review side, we created a comprehensive framework for assessing products across dozens of objective performance characteristics (Mattress DNA™). And together with Dow, we developed scientific tests to measure those characteristics precisely and consistently. On the “finder” side, we pushed well beyond basic filtering. Instead of relying on manufacturer specs, we use our standardized performance assessments as the foundation, and then apply a matching and scoring system that can identify which products provide the best overall fit for that individual – based on the product attributes that matter most for them. The result is a quiz that can make personal product recommendations based on how products actually perform. Even the pros and cons of each product are personalized for you – based on the preferences and priorities you provided – recognizing that the same exact characteristic can be a positive for one person, a negative for another, or simply not matter at all for someone else. Our goal has always been to build a system that could outperform any individual expert. With this latest release, I think we may finally be there. It’s a much smarter way to connect product evaluation and discovery, and honestly one of the more groundbreaking things we’ve built. This approach has applications that go well beyond the mattress category. Very proud of the GoodBed team for pushing this forward. For the fifth consecutive year, we have been named a Supplier Engagement Leader by CDP, a global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system for companies, capital markets, and governments to manage their environmental impacts. We also maintained our spot on the Corporate A List for climate disclosures, a distinction achieved by only four percent of nearly 20,000 companies scored. These recognitions reflect the progress we are making to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our operations, deliver low-carbon solutions that our customers expect, and work with our suppliers to advance climate action across our value chain. Congratulations, #TeamDow!
