Climate Data Utility

Climate Data and Analytics

A global, centralized platform for company-level climate data, accessible to all.

About us

Lack of access to comparable climate-related data remains a significant barrier to informed decision-making. Established by French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions Michael R. Bloomberg the Climate Data Steering Committee (CDSC) recommended the creation of the Climate Data Utility (formerly the Net-Zero Data Public Utility), a global, centralized platform that brings together key company-level climate data that is freely accessible to stakeholders worldwide.

An important milestone for the Climate Data Utility. Through a first-of-its-kind partnership with ADEME and with the support of the French government, the Climate Data Utility will integrate greenhouse gas emissions and target data from more than 4,500 French companies. As the first jurisdictional partnership for the Utility, this marks an important step to make core climate data accessible in a common, comparable format. It’s a practical step towards making high-quality, decision-useful data readily available – helping investors, companies, and policymakers better assess climate-related opportunities and risks. It was a privilege to discuss the partnership and the importance of climate data as a public good alongside Sylvain Waserman at Les Rencontres de l’Institut de la Finance Durable. Huge thanks too to Sylvie Goulard for moderating and to the IFD for convening this important conversation. France has long been at the forefront of climate action underpinned by decision-useful climate data. This partnership puts that leadership into action, setting a precedent for others to follow.
