After defining your video's audience, it's purpose and it's finished look, you're almost ready to write. But first you have a few more questions to ask, before you start your research. As you prepare to write, a good question to ask is do you do all of your shooting first, and then write the script? Or do you write it all out, and then go shoot it? Perhaps you want to shoot discovery interviews of your subject matter experts. I will tell you that this is a very expensive way to go about doing this. You've taken the whole crew out there, the sound, the camera, the lights, everything, just to find out what they say. And they may not say anything worthwhile. Another way to do this would be to pre-interview your subject matter experts, perhaps audio only, for later shooting. This way you don't spend nearly as much money on the crew, just to find out what they're going to say.
