What is motion tracking?
- [Instructor] Motion tracking in computer graphics is the ability to follow objects in footage so that you can add the new objects to the scene and create a believable composition. There are a couple of tracking methods. You can track one single point on the screen if you just needed the X and Y coordinates or you can add a second tracker that will calculate the rotation and scale. You can also track masks to isolate something in the shot which is also known as rotoscoping. You can also extrapolate a synthetic 3D camera that matches the motion of a real camera in the scene. This is known as camera tracking or match moving. And there is also planar tracking when you are following a surface, for example, a screen or a sign, that you want to replace. There are few more other ways to track and we are going to cover them in this course, but the basic ingredients of a tracker is these three things.
