The Headline Test

- Testing your design decisions against your virtues can be an interesting exercise in mindful introspection. In defining your virtues, you've set an ethical bar for yourself and now you need to measure every design decision up against that bar. So Inventory have defined several virtues they want to focus on, among them, care, civility, and justice. Now they can look at each decision they make through the lens of those virtues and ask a somewhat strange set of questions. To look at a design decision or decision-making process through the lens of virtues, ask yourself, in doing this, am I acting like someone who is caring, someone who is civil, someone who is just? These questions can be useful, but as you can plainly see, they're a bit speculative. After all, if your aim is to become someone who is caring or civil or just, how are you supposed to know how to act like one of those people ahead of time? This is the argument…
