- [Instructor] I cannot emphasize enough how critical observability is in a microservices based architecture. Really it's important in all software engineering but especially in microservices based architectures. And Quarkus has shown how much it understands this. First and foremost, let's talk about health checks. Remember, Quarkus is container first and that's evident by the fact that their health check package looks at the two most common Kubernetes health checks, liveness and readiness. These are all built off of smallrye-health which is a package you will need to import to get these health checks. Again, you have /live and /ready which allow you to have a liveness check and a readiness check on your application. In addition, you get /started and /health to let you know that you're in startup or the overall health of your system at any given point in time.
