Linear regression
- [Narrator] We are now in the Modeling section. In this course we cover regression models to make predictions. In other words, we predict numbers. Let's start with simple linear regression. Simple linear regression is nothing, but explaining the dependent variable Y, with independent variable X. We will use the word variable, and future, and dependent-variable, and target interchangeably throughout this course. Imagine you are recovering from an injury and had a doctor's appointment. They ask you to walk every day and gradually increase the duration of the walk. In other words, the step count. Well, you started to record your step counts on the Post-it notes every day. What happened to these Post-it notes, which were supposed to be on the wall? No one would have expected that thunderstorm and you left the windows open.
