Securing your code

Securing your code

- [Instructor] Let's talk about securing your code. And you might think I'm joking, but here's a search in GitHub. I've searched for open API key. And you see some of them are dummies, but when you scroll long enough, you might find some that are not dummy as well, and there has been breaches like that. So your code is running production, bad people will try to do things to it, and it can be either trying to crush your code or denial of service, or they can hack in and steal your data, or worse, your customer data. And this is something you need to protect yourself in order not to do it. Usually start by looking at the OWASP top 10. They gather the top 10 most vulnerabilities, and if you look at them, broken access control and cryptographic failure, injections, insecure design, security misconfiguration, and all of the other things, they're not new. There are things that have been known for a long time, and people are just lazy and don't do that. So you need to have your security mind…
