- [Instructor] Having answered the question, what's it look like? The interactive prototype answers the next question. What does it do? This prototype falls just one step below the finished product. High visual, high functional prototypes are helpful if you are building a product with complex functionality, intricate visual design, or dozens of micro interactions. Since they resemble the final product, these prototypes are also useful for testing with users who aren't very tech savvy. They're also useful for communicating design needs with outsourced programmers in accordance with the specifications, thus reducing the chances of misinterpretation. Because coding is always the next step after a high fidelity prototype is finalized, these prototypes act as highly realistic living technical specs.
